Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea Money Guide

    Updated

Early money in Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea comes from cooking what you forage: a mushroom sells for 27G, but cooked into a dish it sells for 55G. Then a fishing rod, then trading Power Wisp Fruit for 8,800G Ancient Gold Coins. Prices below were shown on screen by launch-week players.

Step 1: cook what you forage

Mushrooms are everywhere early on. A good spot is Spring Breeze Crossroads, south of Bloomfield by the lake, with five or six mushrooms on a good day. Take them home and cook them at the stove:

    • One mushroom becomes a dish worth 55G, roughly double its raw price. Sometimes the dish comes out at a higher quality and sells for more.
    • The dish also restores about three times the stamina, so keep a few for long trips instead of selling them all.
    • Do the same with low-quality vegetables: turn them into salad rather than selling them raw.

Step 2: buy a fishing rod and sell fish raw

Once you have 1,000G, buy a fishing rod at the General Store. Sell what you catch raw: a dish made from a single fish sells for less than the fish itself. Ten fish also earns the Angler-To-Be achievement. Tidewind's fenced fishing area costs 300G to enter.

Step 3: trade Power Wisp Fruit for Ancient Gold Coins

After a few story chapters you reach the Harvest Goddess Glade in the forest. Its statue exchanges Power Wisp Fruits, which you get from the challenge statues around the map, for rewards. One of them is an Ancient Gold Coin: 3 fruits for a coin that sells for 8,800G, more than most early-game days of farming.

    Step 4: crops and animals

    • Keep crop quality up. Rotate fields: replanting the same field lowers quality, and quality sets the price.
    • Max out your animals. Hearts rise quickly with daily petting and feeding, and maxed animals give the best milk and eggs.
    • Claim your bonus cow. If you have the pre-order or early-purchase pack, collect the cow from the shop. One player saw Mooberry milk sell for about three times normal milk, though the cow takes a barn slot.
    • Take requests that pay in seeds. Villagers' random requests mostly trade a crop for seeds, sometimes ones you can't buy yet.

For scale: in launch week 36.7% of Steam players had earned 10,000G in total, and the Rich Farmer achievement asks for 10,000,000G.

    What to spend on first

    1. Nothing on a horse. Tame one free on day 3–4 instead of paying 1,000G.
    2. Fishing rod (1,000G): it pays for itself fast.
    3. A lamb (2,100G): wool → fabric for the bag upgrade, outfits and many quests.
    4. A cat: petting it restores stamina, which means more work done per day.
    5. House and barn upgrades once the basics are covered; sprinklers are expensive and need lots of materials.

    Money traps

    • Passing out. 500G plus most of your materials. Watch stamina near aggressive animals and head home or camp before midnight.
    • Making feed from weeds. 20 weeds per feed; feed animals forage or grass instead.
    • Cooking single fish. Sell them raw.
    • Buying a horse. Tame one.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the fastest way to make money early in Echoes of Teradea?

Forage mushrooms and cook them before selling: one mushroom sells for 27G raw but 55G as a cooked dish. Once you have 1,000G for a fishing rod, sell fish raw. After the story reaches the Harvest Goddess Glade, trade 3 Power Wisp Fruits for an Ancient Gold Coin that sells for 8,800G.

Should you cook fish before selling it?

Not with fish alone. A dish made from a single fish sold for less than the raw fish in launch-week testing, so sell fish raw unless a recipe adds more ingredients.

Is the Ancient Gold Coin worth it?

For money, yes: 8,800G for 3 Power Wisp Fruits. But the same fruits buy skills like extra stamina, so spend your first ones on stamina and sell coins once the skills you need are covered.

How do you avoid losing money in Echoes of Teradea?

Don't pass out. Running out of stamina or staying up past midnight costs a 500G rescue fee plus most of the materials you're carrying.
