What you do in Loftia

Loftia is set on islands floating above a world that is rebuilding itself greener. There's no combat focus: progress comes from farming, crafting and helping the community.

  • Farm the solarpunk way. Alongside ordinary crop beds you'll use hydroponics, aquaponics and trellises, and power your tools with sun, wind and rain.
  • Build and decorate your island. Lay out your own island and home, then link up with other players' islands to form neighbourhoods.
  • Craft and level skills. Gather resources, craft tools and furniture, and earn perks as your skills improve.
  • Adopt companions. Rescue capybaras, turtles and other rescued animals, dress them up and take them exploring.
  • Go on adventures. Explore abandoned factories and adventure islands with puzzles and platforming, alone or in groups.
  • Contribute to community projects. Shared builds unlock new resources, story and islands for everyone on the server.

Solo or multiplayer?

Both. Loftia is an MMO (the studio jokes it's more of a “Mediumly Multiplayer Online”), so the world is persistent and shared, and you can play with as many friends as you like. Playing alone doesn't block progress. A few things to know:

  • You need to be online to play, on every platform.
  • You can only play with people on the same server, but you aren't locked to one and can move to join friends.
  • Cross-play is a goal, not a promise yet. See platforms and cross-play.

Price, cosmetics and season pass

Loftia costs $29.99 in the US (£26.99 / €28.99 before the launch discount), with regional pricing and a 17% launch discount to $24.89. There is no subscription and no paid DLC planned; new content during and after Early Access is free. The studio does run an optional cosmetics shop and a cosmetic season pass, and says the price may rise at the 1.0 release.

What's in Early Access

The launch version has a full storyline across three regions, Loftia City, the Hanging Gardens, the Gridfall, along with skill progression and perks, island customisation, a community farm minigame and adventure islands. The studio expects Early Access to last about one year; features it lists for 1.0 include the Study Cafe, Player Markets, Clubs.
