Dressmaker Walkthrough: From Order to Finished Dress

Every Dressmaker commission runs through the same eight steps, from the client walking in to a finished dress under the studio lights. This walkthrough explains each step, what the game is scoring, and the small mistakes that quietly cost you stars.
1. Accept the commission
Read the whole request before you touch anything. Note the occasion, the style words, any colours the client rules out and the budget. The characters guide lists what each named customer wants.
2. Measure the client
Record bust, waist and hip. These three numbers drive the whole dress — see the measurements reference.
3. Design in the sketchbook
Pick a neckline, bodice, collar, sleeves, skirt. Each part shifts the dress's style tags (Professional, Elegant, Glamour). Keep swapping parts until the tags the client wants are satisfied — this costs nothing, so do it before you spend a coin. Use the colour pencils to plan which areas will share a fabric; it tells you how much of each to buy.
4. Set the mannequin
Turn the three dials on the dress form until each shows a 100% match with your measurements.
5. Buy fabric at the Emporium
Fabric has attributes that push the dress toward certain styles, and the Emporium can filter by them. Stay inside the client's budget — accessories are optional if money is tight.

6. Lay out and cut the pattern
Each pattern piece shows an arrow for its grain line. Line it up and the piece turns green; leave it misaligned and your quality is capped no matter how well you sew. Pack pieces close together to get more out of each length of fabric. Cutting on the bias is allowed and changes how the dress drapes — useful when a client's requirements are loose on quality.
7. Sew the seams
Sewing is a steering minigame: guide the fabric so the needle stays on the stitch line. Straight seams can be taken quickly without losing quality; slow down on curves, where speed causes wobbles.
8. Decorate and deliver
Add buttons, bows, lace, appliqué for the finishing touch — they mostly add beauty rather than big stat changes. Frame the dress in the photo studio, then hand it over.
