    How to Install Dressmaker Mods

    Updated

Dressmaker mods install in two stages: first Yuuma's Dressmaker ModLoader, which goes into the game folder, then the fabric, accessory or story packs you want, which you add through the loader's mod manager. Here is each step for Windows, Mac and Steam Deck, taken from the mod loader's own instructions.

    Before you start

    • You need Dressmaker on Steam and a free Nexus Mods account to download files. There is no Steam Workshop support.
    • Get the mod loader from its Nexus Mods page (currently version 0.7.6, 80,708 downloads). Pick the file for your operating system.
    • The mod loader has a Save Backups tool. Use it before adding a lot of packs, so you can restore your save if something goes wrong.

    Install the mod loader

    StepWindowsmacOS
1Download the Windows file from the mod loader's page.Download the macOS file.
2In Steam, right-click Dressmaker → Properties → Installed Files → Browse Local Files.Same: open the game folder from Steam.
3Unpack the ZIP into its own folder.Unpack the ZIP into its own folder.
4Drag the contents of that folder into the Dressmaker game folder.Run the .command file.

Steam Deck: the mod loader's changelog lists a separate Steam Deck distribution. Use that download rather than the Windows one and follow the notes included with it.

    Add fabric and accessory packs

    1. Download the pack's ZIP from its Nexus Mods page. Leave it zipped.
    2. Start Dressmaker and open the mod loader's Mod Manager.
    3. Use the mod manager to add the pack. The same screen lets you disable or remove packs later.
    4. Check the pack's requirements on its Nexus page first: some need a minimum mod loader version.

Not sure what to add? Start with the most-downloaded fabric mods, then the accessory and garment packs and the utility mods that change how the tools behave.

    Updating

To update the mod loader, extract the new ZIP into the same game folder and choose Replace All. The mod loader is updated often, so if packs stop loading after a game update, check its page for a newer version before anything else. The Dressmaker updates page tracks the game's own patches.

    Uninstalling

Individual packs can be disabled or removed in the mod manager. To remove the loader, the macOS and Steam Deck downloads come with an uninstall script that moves the loader's files into a dated backup and leaves your saves, mods and settings alone. The Windows download has no such script: remove the files you copied into the game folder, which are the same files that are inside the mod loader's ZIP.

    Frequently asked questions

Where is the Dressmaker game folder?

In Steam, right-click Dressmaker in your library, choose Properties, then Installed Files, then Browse Local Files. On Windows it is normally steamapps\common\dressmaker.

The mod loader isn't showing up. What went wrong?

The most common cause is the files sitting in a subfolder. The loader's files have to be directly inside the Dressmaker game folder, not inside a folder within it.

How do I update the mod loader?

Extract the new ZIP into the same game folder and choose Replace All when asked. Your installed packs stay where they are.

A pack says it needs a newer mod loader. What does that mean?

Some packs list a minimum mod loader version in their requirements. Update the mod loader first, then install the pack.

Can I remove the mods again?

Yes. You can disable or remove individual packs in the mod manager. For the loader itself, the macOS and Steam Deck downloads include an uninstall script that moves the loader's files to a dated backup and keeps your saves, mods and settings. On Windows, delete the files you copied in from the ZIP.
