From players' tests in the demo, compiled by The Exceptional Fisherman.

    Spotting augs

    • Augs are customers taken over by a rogue AI chip. They can disguise themselves as a display case buyer and copy that buyer's faction, budget and tags.
    • The Security Department's Augmented Identification Guide lists the tells: a visible aug chip, unusual pupils, an uncanny expression, twitching, unnatural stillness, an outfit that doesn't match their faction, robotic or overly formal speech.
    • The Aug Scanner (200 credits, 25 energy a scan) settles it with a double-click.
    • Shooting is your job: every faction agrees on it. Shooting the wrong person has its own price, and some essential recurring customers can't be shot.
    • Missing too many augs only ends the run (the “Augmented” ending) on Hard Mode.

    Returning customers

    • Selling something that causes euphoria (Phanta pills, dream dust) can make that same customer come back the next morning wanting the same thing: an extra sale that day.
    • The chance rises with the dose: from about 16% at 1,000 euphoria to 48% at 2,200+. Each customer only becomes a regular once.
    • Phanta is also toxic: a single pill with 375+ µl has an 80% chance to nearly kill the buyer, which costs 7 reputation with their faction (17 if they die). Medical suppliers never become regulars.

    Frequently asked questions

When does the landlord come in Probably Stolen?

Sunday, near the end of the day's queue, together with the supply runner and the Merchant. Rent goes up over time no matter how your week went.

What day does Dr. Jackson visit?

Friday. He's the inventor who sells signs, the UV light, the AquaScan, the water trading guide and, after day 14, the Toolbox.

How do you tell if a customer is an aug?

Look for a visible aug chip, unusual pupils or an uncanny expression, and listen for robotic vocabulary or overly formal phrasing; they may also twitch, stand unnaturally still or wear an outfit that doesn't match their faction. The Aug Scanner confirms it for 25 energy.

Why does the same customer come back?

Euphoria. Customers who bought a euphoric item (Phanta, dream dust, or water spiked with them) can return the next morning wanting the same thing. Each customer only becomes a regular once.
