Probably Stolen Display Case Guide
Updated
The display case decides who walks into your shop. Goods on show bring buyers (the more value per tag, the richer the buyer), and signs, lamps and tokens turn random customers into sellers. The catch is the priority order, which is why the seller you want often doesn't show. Try your setup in the odds calculator below. Items roll top to bottom (the default priority, as in the clientele panel). Each success replaces one random customer, and rolling stops when none are left. Based on players' tests in the demo.
How the display case works
- Buyers from the case always come first in the day. You get 1 buyer slot, +1 with the buyer referral and +1 with the display case upgrade (3 at most).
- If store attractiveness drops below 100, the case brings no buyers at all.
- When more tags are on show than you have buyer slots, the tag with the highest combined value wins.
- Water also scales by label: gutterflow or basewater labels draw tier 1, high-quality tier 2, pure tier 3, whichever is higher.
- Signs don't add customers: a successful roll turns one of your expected random customers into that seller.
- Expected random customers: +1 at 200 attractiveness, +2 at 250, +3 at 400; +1 at 20+ lower-level reputation (−1 below 20); −1 if you went out the night before. Four at most.
- At 400 attractiveness, tier 1 sellers are replaced by tier 2.
The order in the day's queue is on the customers page. Tip: the priority between two lamps goes to the one you moved least recently, so nudge a lamp to change the order.
Buyer tiers by value
| Tier | Combined value of one tag | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 | 1–144 credits of that tag | Low-budget buyers |
| Tier 2 | 145–349 | Mid-budget buyers |
| Tier 3 | 350+ (Household: 300+) | Highest budgets; only from day 14 when reached by value |
Who each tag brings
| Tag | Tier 1 | Tier 2 | Tier 3 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Household | Spacer, young spacer, lower-level parent | Citizen | Upper-level servant |
| Food | Starving spacer, spacer, spacer chef | Expedition supplier | Upper-level private chef |
| Substance | Desperate addict | Worn-out spacer | Upper-level hedonist |
| Medical | Injured spacer, sick child caretaker, lower-level doctor (no chem scanners) | Mid-level nurse (chem scanner) | Upper-level hospital supplier (chem scanner) |
| Materials | Scrap buyer, maintenance worker | Lower-level inventor | Station engineer (huge budget) |
| Tools / Modules | Lower-level inventor | Lower-level inventor | Station engineer |
| Weapon / Ammunition | Scavenger | Self-defence enthusiast | Upper-level private security contractor |
| Water | Scav, thirsty spacer | Spacer | Upper-level water stockpiler |
Tools, modules, weapons and ammunition each count separately, so each can bring its own extra buyer, but a given buyer only comes once a day. You can't attract a Luxury buyer: not every tag works in the case.

Frequently asked questions
Why am I not getting the sellers I put signs out for?
Signs don't add customers; each successful roll replaces one of your expected random customers, in priority order. With more signs than expected customers, the ones lower in the list rarely get a turn. Raise store attractiveness or remove signs you don't need.
How do I attract tier 3 buyers?
Put items with the same tag worth 350 credits or more in total in the case (300 for Household). Tier 3 buyers drawn by value don't appear before day 14. For water, a bottle labeled pure is enough.
How many buyers can the display case bring?
One by default, two with the buyer referral, three with the display case upgrade. None at all if store attractiveness is below 100.
What do black lamps do?
They bring thieves who sell stolen goods: 10% per lamp for a thief, 20% for a petty thief, 30% for a food thief, plus 1% for every 2 Black Market reputation, up to 95%.
