Probably Stolen Endings: How to Win and Every Way to Lose

    Updated

Probably Stolen has two winning endings and at least 13 ways to lose the store. You win by owning the store, through the Landlord's deed or the Loan Shark's mortgage. You lose through unpaid rent or debt, a big enough Security case, a faction at -100 reputation, Lou, or a risky starting perk. Below are every ending's trigger and how to avoid it, from two independent guides cross-checked on October 30, 2026.

    All endings at a glance

Three endings share the title Bombed; each has its own trigger.

How to win: the two Buyouts

Both wins mean the store is yours, and both let you press Continue and keep playing without rent hanging over you. The deed is the straightforward route if you can save the full price; the mortgage spreads the cost but adds a weekly payment that can end the run if you miss it with too little stock.

Only one source so far (Indiatimes, from the in-game calendar on a Mark Up run). The deed price rises a little each day, so check the Landlord's actual offer.

    Mark Up12,0001,5001
    Thin Margins24,0002,0000

Planning money for the deed is covered in our money guide; some starting scenarios begin with higher rent, so see starting scenarios too.

    Every way to lose

    Rent and debt

    You Defaulted On Your Rent

Trigger: Refuse the Landlord's rent when you have no rent grace left.

Avoid it: A missed payment with grace left is forgiven but added to the next bill. Have the rent ready before the Landlord's day.

    Repossession

Trigger: Miss a mortgage payment when the Loan Shark can't seize enough goods to cover it.

Avoid it: Don't spend down to zero right before a payment; enough stock on the shelves can absorb a missed week.

    Security

    Arrested

Trigger: A Security case worth 300 to 1,499 credits, a fine you can't pay, or contraband found in an inspection.

Avoid it: Smaller cases end in a fine. Watch how much stolen and contraband stock you sell, since the case adds up.

    Executed

Trigger: A Security case worth 1,500 credits or more.

Avoid it: Same as Arrested, at the higher threshold.

    Framed

Trigger: Security reputation at -100: you are arrested when you open.

Avoid it: Raise Security standing before it bottoms out.

    Factions

    Lynched

Trigger: Lower Levels reputation at -100: a mob is waiting when you open.

Avoid it: Keep Lower Levels standing above -100.

    Bombed (Revolution)

Trigger: Revolution reputation at -100: a bomb is planted in the store.

Avoid it: Keep Revolution standing above -100.

    Retired

Trigger: Sector 13 Cartel reputation at -100, or crossing the Cartel in its deals.

Avoid it: Keep the Cartel's deals.

Wikily says only Chemist runs can get it and adds two more triggers: a handover with no Dream Dust, or average purity at or below a quarter of what was asked.

    Lou

    Bombed (Lou's toys)

Trigger: Cross Lou while her package is in your store.

Avoid it: Wikily's detail: when Lou collects her toy box, every toy has to be there and the box can't be gone.

    Bombed (Lou's debt)

Trigger: Fail to pay what Lou demands.

Avoid it: Wikily's detail: she asks for 1,500 credits of weapons, ammo and meds, and the run ends if the goods plus your credits come to less than 500.

    Starting perks

    Sentinel Collapse

Trigger: Sentinel Collapse Disorder perk only: skip too many Immunivax injections.

Avoid it: The run starts with one injector. Keep a supply and inject on schedule.

    Augmented

Trigger: Aug presence reaches 100 with the Aug Menace perk.

Avoid it: Shoot Augs before they escape.

Wikily says it can also happen without the perk on Thin Margins and Red Ink.

    Meltdown

Trigger: Makeshift Reactor perk only: the reactor's integrity reaches 0.

Avoid it: Keep repairing the reactor; it protects you from blackouts but is not maintenance-free.

15 or 17? The two disputed endings

Indiatimes and Probably Stolen Game Guide count 17 endings; Wikily (and Treyex Gaming, which repeats its list) count 15. The difference is these two, which we haven't been able to confirm from a second independent source yet:

    EndingReported triggerNotes
AssassinatedUpper Levels reputation at -100: the Upper Levels hire a hitman.Keep Upper Levels standing above -100.
No PermitPermit enforcement starts and you still have no Business Permit.Indiatimes: the Mentor warns on day 24 that permits go on sale in two weeks and enforcement starts a week after. The official Authorized achievement (own the business permit) confirms the permit exists.

    Frequently asked questions

How many endings does Probably Stolen have?

At least 15: 2 wins (both Buyouts) and 13 ways to lose, which every guide we checked agrees on. Two more, Assassinated and No Permit, appear in some guides but not others, which is why you'll see both 15 and 17 quoted.

How do you win Probably Stolen?

Own the store: either buy the deed from the Landlord on a rent day with the full price in credits, or pay off the Loan Shark's mortgage. Both unlock the Keys to the Kingdom achievement and let you keep playing.

Can you keep playing after an ending?

Only after a Buyout. Every other ending finishes the run. If you want no scripted ending at all, the difficulty screen has an Endless Mode, though some scripted events and customers don't appear in it.

Is there an ending for each faction?

Each faction ends the run at -100 reputation: Security frames you, the Lower Levels lynch you, the Revolution bombs the store and the Cartel retires you. Some guides add an Upper Levels hitman (Assassinated).
